La pêche de loisir au filet calé en Charente-Maritime

Fixed-net fishing is a leisure fishing activity on tidal shorelines. The fisherman places a net on the foreshore at low tide and lifts it at the next low tide. In France, this practice is subject to authorization, each department setting a maximum number of nets authorized on the foreshore. The Charente-Maritime is today the only French department not to set a quota for this practice. In order to update the regulations and improve the knowledge of the practices taking place on the perimeter of the Parc naturel marin de l'estuaire de la Gironde et de la mer des Pertuis, this study realizes a state of recreational fishing sites with fixed nets in Charente-Maritime. Thanks to a questionnaire sent to the holders of an authorization and to individual interviews with fishermen, it was possible to show that mostly retired, novice and passionate fishermen practice it, with investment rates more or less important. A first step towards the evaluation of impacts on the resource and habitats could be made.
